Editorial Policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026  |  StudyEdge AI Editorial Team

This page explains how the StudyEdge AI blog researches, writes, reviews, and updates its study guides. Our goal is simple: every article should help a student study more effectively and contain no claim that is not backed by peer-reviewed research or a credible primary source.

Our Editorial Mission

We write evidence-based study guides for college and university students. We do not publish opinion pieces, motivational content, or tips that lack a research foundation. Every technique we recommend has been evaluated in published studies, and we link to those studies so readers can verify the evidence themselves.

We are not affiliated with Study Edge (studyedge.com), a Florida-based human tutoring company. We are StudyEdge AI, a separate product at getstudyedge.com. See our disambiguation page for details.

Who Writes Our Content

StudyEdge AI Editorial Team

Articles are written by the StudyEdge AI editorial team, which draws on peer-reviewed literature in cognitive psychology, educational psychology, and learning science. We specialize in translating academic research on memory, retrieval practice, spaced repetition, and metacognition into practical study guides for students.

When we describe a study or finding, we link to the original paper or report rather than to secondary sources. We do not publish or endorse content from guest authors we cannot verify.

Source Standards

We use a three-tier source hierarchy. Only Tier 1 and Tier 2 sources are cited for factual claims:

Tier 1 (Primary) -- Strongly preferred

Tier 2 (Authoritative Secondary) -- Acceptable with citation

Tier 3 -- Not cited

Citation Format

Every statistic in our articles follows what we call the FLOW standard: a year anchor in prose before the statistic ("In 2013, Dunlosky and colleagues found..."), an inline citation naming the publisher and document title, and a URL with retrieval date in the sources section at the bottom of each post.

We provide APA, MLA, and Chicago citation formats on research-heavy posts so students can cite our articles in academic work when appropriate.

Fact-Checking Process

Before publication, each article goes through these checks:

  1. Source verification -- every cited study is located at its original URL and read for accuracy before being paraphrased
  2. Statistic accuracy -- numbers are confirmed against the original paper's abstract or results section, not taken from secondary sources
  3. Claim scope -- we note the population, conditions, and limitations of each study rather than overgeneralizing findings
  4. Technique evidence tier -- we follow Dunlosky et al. (2013) "Improving Students' Learning With Effective Learning Techniques" as the foundational reference for technique utility ratings

AI Disclosure

StudyEdge AI uses AI-assisted drafting in its content workflow. All published content is reviewed, edited, and verified by human editors before publication. We do not publish AI-generated content without human review, and we do not use AI to fabricate statistics or research claims.

Our tool (the StudyEdge AI study app) is AI-powered. Our blog is about studying, and we apply the same evidence standards to blog content that we apply to the app's AI responses.

Update Policy

Trigger Action Timeline
Major new study contradicts a claim Update or add correction note Within 2 weeks of publication
Annual statistics become outdated Update statistics and retrieval dates Annually per post
Broken source link Replace with archived or updated link Within 30 days
Factual error reported by reader Investigate, correct if warranted, note correction Within 14 days

All substantive updates are reflected in the dateModified field in the article's JSON-LD schema and in a visible "Updated [Month Year]" tag on the article.

Conflict of Interest

StudyEdge AI sells a study app. Our blog recommends study techniques based on research evidence, not based on what drives app downloads. When a technique we cover (like active recall or spaced repetition) is supported by our app's features, we note that in context. We also recommend free tools and methods that do not involve our app.

We do not accept paid placements, sponsored articles, or affiliate fees from other study tools. We do not link to competitors for commercial reasons, and we do not receive payment for any external links.

Corrections Policy

If you find a factual error, a broken citation, or a claim you believe is unsupported, please email us at support@getstudyedge.com with the article URL, the specific claim, and your evidence. We take correction requests seriously and respond within 14 days.

When we correct a factual error, we note the correction at the bottom of the article with the date it was made. We do not silently edit factual errors without noting the change.
